Jyoti Prakash Dutta is an Indian film producer, writer, and director who predominantly works in Bollywood. He is the son of late filmmaker OP Dutta. He produces films under the JP Films banner. He is famous for producing war-related, patriotic, and action movies. Most of his films are multi-starrers featuring several popular actors. Dutta began his career in 1976 with the movie 'Sarhad,' but it was not released. Hence, his debut as a director and writer came with the movie 'Ghulami' that was released in 1985. Later, he directed 'Yateem', 'Batwara', 'Hathyar', and 'Kshatriya' in the late '80 and early '90s. Dutta's most popular and commercially successful film 'Border' released in 1997. The following year, he was awarded the National Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration for 'Border'. Over the years, Dutta released three Box Office hits namely, 'Refugee' (2000), 'LOC Kargil' (2003), and 'Umrao Jaan' (2006). The Indian Army gives him complete sustenance for his war and nation-based movies. In 2013, Dutta announced that he would be making a sequel to 'Border' with Sangram Singh and Ajit Sodhi.
